Partho Dasgupta – Ex-CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council

Partho Dasgupta is known for his sharp understanding of consumers, technology, and media trends. He was the first CEO of BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council), a joint venture by broadcasters, advertising agencies, and advertisers to create a new system for measuring TV viewership.
As CEO, Partho Dasgupta played a key role in building BARC from the ground up. He created a unique funding model with support from banks, managed a board with many stakeholders, and worked closely with the government and regulators. Under his leadership, BARC developed one of the most advanced technology systems in the world, using machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, big data, and artificial intelligence.
Thanks to his efforts, BARC expanded its reach to 3,000 towns and villages across India, making it the largest TV audience measurement panel in the world. Today, BARC continues to grow, offering insights in areas like news, sports, music, premium homes, and even outdoor (OOH) viewership. The company uses modern tools like big data, machine learning, and AI to deliver its services.
