A New Approach to Intervention: How We Help Families Heal from Addiction

At Crosswell Interventions, we’ve worked with enough families to know: addiction never affects just one person. It ripples outward—into parents, siblings, spouses, and entire family systems. And more often than not, by the time someone reaches out to us, they’re exhausted. They’ve tried everything, and nothing seems to work.
That’s why we do what we do. We don’t just guide people into treatment—we help families find clarity, connection, and hope again.
Why the System Isn’t Enough
A recent study from the University of Texas Addiction Research Institute highlighted a growing concern: even when someone enters recovery, they often lack the support structures to stay on track. Recovery housing—those vital sober-living environments that bridge the gap between treatment and real life—isn’t typically covered by insurance. That means many people are left vulnerable just as they begin to rebuild.
This breakdown between acute treatment and long-term healing isn’t new. We’ve seen it for years. And it’s part of the reason Crosswell Interventions takes such a comprehensive approach.
What Makes Our Work Different
We founded Crosswell Interventions here in Austin, TX with a clear mission: to help individuals and families move from crisis to healing with clarity, compassion, and a comprehensive plan.
We don’t just lead interventions. We walk with families through every stage of early recovery.
Our team is led by licensed clinicians, and we bring a trauma-informed lens to every case. But what really sets us apart is our focus on relationships—both within the family, and within the individual.
When a family hires us, we provide far more than a one-time intervention. Our services include:
Full clinical assessment and planning
Compassionate, structured interventions
90 days of post-intervention case management
Family coaching and therapy
Treatment placement and transportation logistics
We also incorporate trauma work and somatic modalities when appropriate, because so often, substance use is tied to unresolved emotional pain.
As our founder, Will Crosswell, LCSW, LCDC, often says:
“Intervention isn’t about forcing change—it’s about helping someone feel safe enough to say yes to it.”
Recovery Is a Family Process
We believe families deserve support too. It’s not easy watching a loved one spiral. It’s not easy setting boundaries, or finding your voice again after years of walking on eggshells.
That’s why we stay connected with our clients long after the intervention. We offer guidance, referrals, and hands-on help for navigating the early days of recovery. Because real change doesn’t happen overnight—and no one should have to do it alone.
A Call to Hope
The addiction crisis is real, and it’s personal. But we also know that healing is possible. We see it every day—in the phone calls we get weeks after an intervention, in the quiet relief in a parent’s voice, in the small but steady wins that come with long-term support.
If you’re here reading this because you’re unsure what to do next—take a breath. There is a way forward. And we’re here to help you find it.
