The First Branch: Infrastructure Overview

In case you missed it. Here’s the first series👉https://beyondbaremetal.hashnode.dev/series/beyond-bare-metal-setup
Our company is expanding into new geographical spaces, which brings new challenges and opportunities to learn and apply new technologies.
That’s why our new series will be focused on real gear configuration to be robust, secure, and adapted to real-life needs.
For this series, we will be using the following equipment:
Sonicwall TZ 350
Cisco Switch C3560
Server (Proxmox Host)
Infrastructure Diagram
Internet
We will have a fiber modem with 100/100Mbps Internet speed, more than enough for any connection needs.
Sonicwall TZ 350
This will be our firewall, here we will configure: Zones, VLAN Interfaces, Firewall rules, and security services.
Cisco Switch C3560
On our switch, we will configure: VLANs, Trunking, VLAN port assignments, as well as security.
Server (Proxmox Host)
Due to the licensing changes with VMware ESXi and the relevance that Proxmox has gained lately, we’ve decided to implement it as a Virtualization platform.
We will configure Proxmox storage, networking, security, roles, resource pools, tags, and more.
Conclusion
With this new setup, we’re moving from theory into the real world — cables, rack space, and all. Over the next few posts, we’ll walk through the complete configuration of our firewall, switch, and Proxmox host, building a solid foundation for our first physical branch.
Stay tuned for more content.
