Turning the Tide: Make Mental Health Education Mandatory for Indian Students

Every three minutes, India loses a life to suicide. With over 1.71 lakh lives lost annually translating to approximately 468 deaths per day our nation carries the tragic and avoidable label of being the “suicide capital of the world” .

Yet, amid this anguish lies a beacon of hope, a petition calling upon the Supreme Court of India to mandate mental health education from the very beginning of schooling, starting from Class 1.

The campaign aims to collect 1 million signatures to strengthen a forthcoming Public Interest Litigation (PIL). If the Supreme Court rules in favor, mental health education structured, age-appropriate, and early would become a required part of school curricula .You can contribute to this societal shift in just 10 seconds. Your signature doesn’t just support a petition, it champions a generation that learns to heal, understand, and thrive.

Ignoring the emotional health of our children isn’t an option. With widespread advocacy and public support, mandating mental health education can transform India into a leader not only in education but also in emotional well-being.
