South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia to Host ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Cricket South Africa, on Saturday (23rd August), officially announced the venues for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. The update came alongside the introduction of the tournament’s Local Organising Committee Board, which will be chaired by former South African cabinet minister Trevor Manuel as an Independent.

The 2027 edition will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, with matches scheduled for the second half of the year. Ever since the conclusion of the 2023 World Cup—where India suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the final—anticipation for the next tournament has been steadily building.

ICC Cricket World Cup: This marks the first time in two decades that South Africa will host the Cricket World Cup. The last occasion was in 2003, when Australia lifted the trophy after defeating India in the final.

For South Africa, the upcoming World Cup represents a golden opportunity to claim the trophy on home soil. The Proteas will be brimming with confidence after recently ending their ICC title drought, having beaten Australia in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 final.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 will feature 54 matches in total, with South Africa hosting 44 games, while Zimbabwe and Namibia will share the remaining 10. The grand final is also scheduled to take place in South Africa.

Eight venues across South Africa have been selected to stage the tournament: Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London, and Paarl.

CSA president Rihan Richards highlighted the importance of the event, stating:

“It has been 24 years since the ICC Cricket World Cup was last held on African soil. The 2027 edition presents a unique opportunity to not only attract new fans but also deepen engagement with existing ones through digital innovation—connecting Africa with the rest of the world.”
